Environmental Learning

The Marine Science Center offers a broad variety of programs and activities for both children and adults throughout the year. The Marine Science Center is the perfect place for learning about our Volusia County’s rich environment and ways we can conserve it. With features such as the new aquatic touch pool, the Marine Science Center researches how it can help preserve the environment and its species.

Aquarium

The Marine Science Center Gallery has a 5,000 gallon hexagonal artificial reef aquarium. With its new aquatic touch pool, you can enjoy a hands-on experience with cow-nose stingrays and hermit crabs.

Rehabilitation Center

The Mary Keller Seabird Rehabilitation Sanctuary officially opened in June, 2014. It has treated more than 13,000 birds from more than 190 different species. This bird rehabilitation facility is fully equipped to care and treat injured and sick birds. The rehabilitation center was named for Mary Keller, a longtime local bird rehabber who has dedicated more than 30 years to care for sick and injured birds in Volusia County. Take a walk through our dune habitat. Feel free to look at the sea turtle nest and the wide variety of local fish.

Shop

The Marine Science Center Gift shop carries a vast selection of nautical merchandise and souvenirs. Dive into the aquatic world by investing in marine related educational books, videos, puzzles, games, and toys. There are also garden treasures and house ware items. In addition, they offer a custom line of t-shirts and sweatshirts featuring sea turtles and seabirds that are perfect for the whole family. From 14K gold sea turtle charms to sterling silver dolphin bracelets the diverse jewelry in the gift shop is unique and beautiful.

Special Lighthouse Events

Membership to the lighthouse & museum can come in handy. Frequently, the association schedules special events throughout the year that require membership or preregistration for participation. While on “Climb with the Keepers,” leaders give participants a personal tour of the entire Lighthouse. The tour also includes many other private areas. Visit the website for further information on pricing and reservations.
